Based on the fifth-generation Ford Mustang GT, this 2008 Saleen S281 Red Fled Edition features a supercharged 4.6-liter V8 engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission along with a Saleen body kit, Racecraft suspension, chrome 20” wheels, and a Saleen-customized interior. Of the 416 Saleen S281 cars produced in 2008, only 81 were Red Flag Editions, and this example is one of the very few to have come finished in Alloy paint. It was purchased by the current owner in 2023 and is now being offered with just over 45k miles showing on the odometer.
Finished in Alloy, this S281 features a Saleen body kit with custom bumpers, side skirts, and door cladding. Other details include a Saleen design rear spoiler and front grille, a Saleen rear center body panel, Saleen integrated front turn signals, S281SC side badges, a serialized “156RF” front bumper number, a Saleen windshield banner, dual center-mounted exhaust pipes, and chrome 7-spoke wheels measuring 20”x9” in front and 20”x10” at the rear. The seller indicates the car has been garage-kept during their ownership and new Nitto NT555 G2 tires were installed in 2023 along with new OEM headlights and rocker panel clips. Detailed images are provided in the gallery. A clear CARFAX report available upon request.
Inside, this Saleen is appointed with Charcoal leather upholstery and features sport seats with red stitching and door panel inserts, Saleen design dashboard vents, a Saleen steering wheel badge, performance driving pedals, a Saleen 200 MPH speedometer, and a Saleen close-ratio shifter. Other Saleen accessories include Saleen door sill plates, a serialized dashboard plaque, and Saleen S281 floor mats. The driver is also provided with a power-operated seat, power windows and door locks, a rear window defroster, air conditioning, remote keyless, entry, and a Shaker 500 audio system. The seller notes minor signs of wear are present on the seats, the windows are tinted (within state legal limits), the driver airbag inflator was replaced in 2019, and a new rearview mirror was installed in 2024.
Power comes from a 4.6-liter SOHC V8 engine featuring a Saleen Series VI integrated screw-type supercharger, a dual-stage water-to-air intercooler system, Saleen 39 lb. fuel injectors, a Saleen 98mm mass airflow sensor, power pulleys, and “Powerflash” performance calibration. Up to 465 HP and 425 lb.-ft of torque are rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential with 3.31:1 gearing. The S281 comes with a Racecraft suspension featuring Saleen-specific shocks, struts, and springs along with a Saleen front sway bar and pivot bushings. Stopping power comes from four-wheel vented disc brakes with 12.4” rotors in front and 11.8” rotors in rear. A new Roush pulley tensioner and belt were installed in 2014 and there are no outstanding maintenance items, at this time. Tires have about 7,000 miles on them.
